| Comparison With Competition |
OPENING SYSTEM
• Competitor uses heavy unsupported cylinders that span from the center of the frame to the
outboard raking wing (durability, maintennance, and cost of replacement problem). H & S uses a single cylinder
supported by the center frame.
• Competitor's opening cylinders are attached to posts 33" above the raking wing. Together
with the weight of the cylinders, these posts act as a lever twisting the raking wing over from the vertical
position, causing the rake wheels to skip over crop. H & S holds the raking wing directly and is trussed
on a 45 degree angle to prevent twisting.
• H & S has stops that can be preset for various raking widths, competitors does not.
• H & S has one side raking standard, competitors does not.
BACK END
• H & S has a patented crank system to change windrow widths anywhere, quickly, without
any tools. The competitors requires loosening a dozen bolts (metric) and either jacking up the rake or pulling
it forward while a second person pulls on a lever to change the setting (a safety and convenience problem).
• H & S utilizes oscillating tandem rear transport wheels on the 14 and 16 wheel rakes,
(optional on the 12). Competitors offers only a single wheel.
RACKING WHEELS/ARMS
• H & S uses reinforced rake wheel back plated on the 14 and 16 wheel rakes.
• H & S uses double bearings on the rake wheels on the 14 and 16 wheel rakes, not available on
the competitors.
• H & S uses double bearings where the candy cane arms attach to the frame on the 14 and 16
wheel rakes, and a greasable bronze bushing on the 12 wheel rake. The competitor uses a nylon.
MISCELLANEOUS
• H & S is partially assembled, reducing assembly time by more than 50% and with most
pieces pre-set, eliminating potential operating problems due to improper assembly.
• The competition utilizes metric bolts.
• The competition lacks a jack storage position safe from the tractor tire.
• The competition lacks the quality, fit and finish of the H & S.
• H & S holds seven U.S. and one Canadian rake patents with other rake patents pending.
• H & S has led and dominated the high-end rake market for the last decade.
