 The Gandy Orbit-Air application system may be one piece of equipment, but it's designed to efficiently handle three different field jobs, save time and reduce overall operating cost.
  • BAND - Orbit-Air enables you to economically band or broadcast standard-grade dry materials, including some impregnated fertilizers. At specified rates. Over uneven terrain in all kinds of weather.
  • APPLY - Orbit-Air lets you effectively apply materials across the full tillage width. Now you can inexpensively place materials on target with the same accuracy as big custom pneumatic floaters costing thousands of dollars more.
  • METER - Orbit-Air handles most types of seed, at cover or cash crop rates. In any row width or broadcast.
Drastically reduce field machinery needs
 Orbit-Air mounts directly to field cultivators, chisel plows, planters, row cultivators, trailers, high-clearance units, or other delivery systems. You squeeze more jobs into your hectic production schedule. Orbit-Air cuts trips over the fields. Reduces compaction, and when mounted on a secondary tillage tool, it lets you apply material on fields that are often too wet for other equipment to enter.

The secret of Orbit-Air
 Individual metering wheels feed material from the hopper into individual mixing chambers, where the air stream moves it through hoses to all delivery attachments. The rotating speed of the metering wheels determines the application rate. Depending on the type of metering wheels you select, the Orbit-Air delivers 2 to 300 pounds per acre in swaths up to 60 feet wide. Orbit-Air uses material more efficiently. With no waste. Or uncontainable spills.

Orbit-Air Applicator

Speed-compensated system with in-cab control applies precise insecticide rates from central-fill Gandy hoppers

MountingYou can achieve even more productivity and crop “insurance” from your multi-feature John Deere 1790 planter by adding a precision insecticide air applicator with the Gandy twin granular hopper and mounting package 6620GS24C. The mounting places the hoppers on either side of the central tank access and permits a remote mounting of the blower on the front hitch so it serves both hoppers and reduces hydraulic requirements.

Insecticide rate adjustment is controlled from an in-cab mounted monitor capable of having two pre-set rates, plus manual control. Governed by either wheel sensor or radar interface, the Gandy metering system ensures the application rate is speed-compensated so the rate stays the same even when your field speed varies.

motor The hydraulic motor controlled hopper and the hydraulic driven fan are integrated so only one bank of hydraulic outlets is necessary for the air system and applicator’s hydraulic motor drive.


The basic package delivers insecticide to up to 24 rows, each hopper each having an electric clutch to shut off half the rows in unison with each side of the planter for field finishing.

Hoppers can be ordered with covers die cut to accept Lock ‘n Load valves. Each hopper has 450 pounds granular chemical capacity.

Tired of Losing Planting Time ?
Gandy Seed Transfer System
Saves Time and Dollars !

Gandy Company has developed a special Seed Transfer System (STS) for tending 8 to 36-row planters to reduce fill time, enabling farmers to spend more time actually planting. First-time operators report planting 100 more acres per day, by cutting down time to fill individual seed hoppers. When hopper is pressurized by hydraulic-driven blower, seed flows to individual row hoppers as the seed is planted. Keeping a reduced and constant weight in each planter unit provides more uniform depth of seed placement. Use the transfer for corn, soybean, or small grain planting to eliminate so much down time for filling individual hoppers.

sts28-3 The hopper cover is air sealed and pressurized. Seed flows to each planter seed box until seed covering the seed tube equals the tube’s air pressure. As the seed level drops, seed flow begins until seed again covers the air delivery tube.

The air transfer system hoppers--having available capacities of 64 or 80, and 96 or 120 bushels--can be filled by bulk bag, and will feed 8 to 24 rows on the two smaller capacities or up to 36 rows on the two larger units. The system can be ordered sts8-9 as a tow cart or as an implement-mount for installing on your own equipment, if the planter frame or assist wheels permit. Tow cart models have an optional single or double forward caster wheel to reduce tongue weight on planter, and optional coupler banks for quick detachment of cart from planter.

sts4-4 The hopper can be ordered to match most major planter colors, and be tailored to the number of outlets through selection of either 8 or 12-outlet manifolds to attach to the hopper. Plugs to seal unneeded outlets are included. A field video of the Gandy Seed Transfer System (STS) is available upon request.
